Loyola Men's Volleyball

National Champs 2014. MIVA Champs 2015. Be ready for another National Championship for the Loyola Men’s Volleyball team, as they head west to Palo Alto, California to compete in the NCAA tournament. They have had a great season with an overall record of 25-2, both losses coming from Lewis who they recently defeated to win the MIVA for the third straight year. They go into the tournament ranked 3rd, matched up with Pfeiffer (Ranked 6th) in the first round. In the semi-final they will face #2 seed, U.C. Irvine.

In the match against Lewis Peter Hutz recorded a match-high 51 assists to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team along with teammates Thomas Jaeschke, Cody Caldwell and Ricky Gevis. Jaeschke had a match-high 20 kills and a .486 hitting percentage. He also had three assists and two service aces. Gevis matched his career-high with 13 kills and Caldwell had 11. Jaeschke was also named MIVA player of the year and Off The Block/Springbak Inc., National Server of the Year.

I have never watched them play in person, only online but they are amazing. It is incredible watching guys play. It is so much different than the girls’ game, but at the same time has so many similarities. It is awesome to know that there are guys out there that share the same passion with volleyball that I do. It is going to be awesome going to Loyola and having support from guys that play, and supporting the natty champs :)
